{"id":"trasplantes","name":"Eye and cell transplants","japanese":"移植","category":"science","subtitle":"Borrowed power never works quite like your own.","summary":"How the series treats eyes, arms and cells that pass from one body to another, from Kakashi's Sharingan to the experiments of the Boruto era.","facts":[["Primer caso","Kakashi's Sharingan"],["Riesgo","High chakra consumption"]],"lvl":0,"sections":[{"h":"Kakashi's Sharingan","t":"The series' most famous transplant happens in the middle of the Third Great War. Kakashi loses his left eye protecting Obito; soon after, Obito is crushed by the rocks and gives him his newly awakened Sharingan, and Rin performs the operation on the spot. From then on Kakashi keeps the eye covered with his headband. Since he is not an Uchiha, he cannot deactivate it and the Sharingan drains his chakra constantly, which is why he uses it sparingly and is often exhausted after revealing it. The eye earns him his nickname of the Copy Ninja, but does not make him part of the clan.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-244","pos":244},{"h":"Kabuto and Orochimaru's remains","t":"After Orochimaru's death at Sasuke's hands, Kabuto makes a disturbing decision: he grafts his former master's remains onto his own body. He tells Naruto so while handing him information about the Akatsuki, and admits he is locked in an inner struggle with what he grafted on. The transplant gives him Orochimaru's abilities, but also exposes him to losing his identity. Over time Kabuto adds more of others' tissues and abilities, and that path turns him into one of the war's central threats.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-357","pos":357},{"h":"Danzō: someone else's arm and eye","t":"Danzō hides beneath his bandages an arsenal that is not his. At the Kage Summit he uses Shisui's eye to manipulate Mifune, and facing Sasuke he uncovers an arm studded with several Sharingan, sustained by Hashirama's cells. Thanks to those eyes he chains Izanagi after Izanagi, sacrificing a Sharingan each time, until he runs out. The fight shows the cost of hoarding others' power: the arm is hard to control and, in the end, his body starts to give way. Danzō dies activating a seal to take his enemies with him.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-481","pos":481},{"h":"Itachi's eyes in Sasuke","t":"After his fight with Itachi and learning the truth about the massacre, Sasuke asks Tobi for his brother's eyes. The transplant is meant to solve the Mangekyō's problem, which dims with use. With Itachi's eyes, Sasuke awakens the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and debuts it against a group of Zetsu, his sight restored. The article on the Eternal Mangekyō explains the mechanics; what matters here is the gesture: one brother ends up seeing through the other's eyes.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-553","pos":553},{"h":"Obito, Hashirama's cells and a borrowed Rinnegan","t":"Obito's story is made of other people's pieces. After the collapse at the Kannabi Bridge, Madara saves him and rebuilds the crushed half of his body with material based on Hashirama's cells, and Obito has to train through pain to move again. Later he carries in his left eye a Rinnegan that had been in Nagato, who in turn received it from Madara without knowing it. Those transplants explain how a single will could steer the Akatsuki from the shadows for years.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-607","pos":607},{"h":"After the war: new arms","t":"At the end of the war, Naruto and Sasuke each lose an arm at the Valley of the End. Years later Naruto uses a prosthesis made from Hashirama's cells, while Sasuke chooses not to replace his. In Boruto, medicine and science follow the same path by other means: Kawaki receives a prosthetic arm charged with Naruto's chakra, and Ao combines his grafted Byakugan with a body full of mechanical parts. Transplants stop being a desperate resort and become part of the village's daily life.","lvl":2,"ch":"boruto-34","pos":734},{"h":"Shin Uchiha in the anime","t":"The animated adaptation of Sarada's arc introduces Shin Uchiha, a man whose body is covered in grafted Sharingan, who attacks Sasuke and kidnaps Sakura. To find him, the group visits Orochimaru, who explains that Shin was one of his experimental subjects and has a special ability to accept others' organs. His sons, the Shin clones, end up turning against him. The case works as a dark mirror of Kakashi's: collecting eyes does not make anyone heir to a clan.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-23","pos":701}],"characters":["kakashi","obito","rin","kabuto","orochimaru","danzo","shisui","sasuke","itachi","nagato","madara","naruto","kawaki","ao","shin"],"related":["sharingan","eterno","rinnegan","izanagi","dojutsu","experimentos-de-orochimaru","cuerpos-modificados","mokuton"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 242–244, 356–357, 475–481, 553, 603–607 and 698–700; Boruto, manga, chapter 34; anime, episodes 20–23.","sources":[{"title":"Kakashi: el Sharingan recibido y la enseñanza del Chidori","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1903"},{"title":"Obito: el Equipo Minato y el sueño perdido","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1706"},{"title":"Sasuke: su familia y el camino de la venganza","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1856"},{"title":"Itachi: familia, ANBU y la tragedia del clan","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1814"},{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"},{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Boruto","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
