The sword has no metal blade: it comes out of a sake gourd the Susanoo holds in a second hand, and the liquid takes the shape of an edge. Whoever it pierces is drawn into the gourd and trapped forever in a genjutsu of drunken dreams. The Yata Mirror, on the other arm, is a shield with no fixed form that changes its nature to cancel any attack, physical or spiritual. According to Zetsu's black half, together they make that Susanoo invincible. They cannot be inherited or wielded without Itachi's Susanoo: every manifestation is personal.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-393","pos":393},{"h":"Sealing Orochimaru","t":"In the final duel between the Uchiha brothers, Orochimaru emerges from Sasuke's body in his eight-headed serpent form. Itachi unleashes his Susanoo and, with the Totsuka Blade, easily cuts off seven of the heads and seals Orochimaru inside the gourd. The curse mark goes with him: Sasuke is freed from the seal that had bound him since the Forest of Death. Zetsu reveals that Orochimaru had searched for this sword his whole life without finding it. It is also the first time the reader sees Itachi's full Susanoo, with both weapons in view.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-393","pos":393},{"h":"In the Fourth War","t":"Revived by Kabuto with the Impure World Reincarnation, Itachi regains control of his body and, with Naruto and Killer B, faces Nagato, also revived. To stop him he uses the Totsuka Blade again: since a revived body cannot die, the only way out is to seal it, and the blade tears Nagato's soul free and locks it in the gourd. Later, when Itachi and Sasuke face Kabuto together, Itachi does not seal him with the sword: he stops him by trapping him in Izanami, a genjutsu that forces him to confront his own choices.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-590","pos":590},{"h":"Trivia","t":"The name comes from Japanese mythology: “totsuka no tsurugi” refers to swords “ten fists” long, like the one the god Susanoo used to kill Yamata no Orochi after getting it drunk on sake. Itachi's sake gourd is a direct nod to that legend. The Yata Mirror is another of the three Japanese imperial regalia, along with the Kusanagi sword and the Yasakani jewel. The sword is often described as “the perfect counter to the Kusanagi”, but that is a mistranslation: it is a variant of that same sword. In the manga its blade looks liquid; in the anime, by contrast, it looks like fire.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-393","ep":"shippuden-138","pos":393}],"characters":["itachi"],"related":["susanoo","mangekyo","izanami"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 391–393 (Itachi against Sasuke) and 590–592 (Itachi and Sasuke against Kabuto).","sources":[{"title":"Itachi: familia, ANBU y la tragedia del clan","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1814"},{"title":"Sasuke: la verdad sobre Itachi y un nuevo camino","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1858"}],"figures":[]}
