With Water Style he gives them different properties: they explode on contact or all at once when he snaps his fingers, they trap and protect, or they let him float inside a bubble to travel. He can also create them without the pipe at certain moments. The bubbles' properties depend on Utakata's chakra and his relationship with the Six-Tails; the pipe alone does not produce them. His name means “bubble” or “foam”, and also “ephemeral”.","lvl":1},{"h":"The Hotaru arc","t":"In an anime-only arc, Utakata wanders as a rogue ninja from Kirigakure until he crosses paths with Hotaru, a girl who carries a forbidden technique sealed inside her and wants to be his student. He hates the word “master” because of the betrayal he believes he suffered from his own teacher, but he protects her with explosive bubbles, defensive domes and ink bubbles that immobilize. At the end of the arc Pain catches up with him and captures him, and the Akatsuki extracts the Six-Tails, which costs him his life.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-151","pos":415},{"h":"Revived in the war","t":"In the Fourth War, Tobi uses Utakata and the other jinchūriki revived with the Impure World Reincarnation as new Paths of Pain. With a snap he fills the field with explosive bubbles, materializes one of the Six-Tails' tails and mixes the tailed beast's acid into the bubbles. He resists Killer B's seal by shifting to Version 2 and burns the Eight-Tails' hand with a corrosive technique. Tobi forces him into the full transformation and then subdues the Six-Tails with chains.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-567","pos":567},{"h":"What the anime adds","t":"The anime expands his fight in the war and shows Utakata using the pipe to shield himself and Naruto with a dome of bubbles. It also shows his capture in more detail: before he is taken, he sends bubbles to Hotaru so he can see her one last time through them. In the manga his eyes are very narrow, while the anime draws them at normal size.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-324","pos":564}],"characters":["utakata"],"related":["jinchuriki","bijuu","tsuchigumo"],"reference":"Naruto Shippuden, anime, Utakata and Hotaru arc (episodes 144–151).","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
