Their introduction is violent: they attack Kabuto in the first test to show that their techniques, based on vibrations and sound waves, can do damage without touching. In the Forest of Death they are ordered to kill Sasuke and clash with Rock Lee, Sakura and the team of Ino, Shikamaru and Chōji, until Sasuke's curse mark puts them to flight. In the preliminaries, Dosu defeats Chōji. From the start it is clear the village answers to someone else.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-87","pos":87},{"h":"The invasion of Konoha","t":"The Sound turns out to be Orochimaru's village, created to destroy Konoha and steal its techniques. During the Chūnin Exam finals, Oto and Sunagakure launch a joint invasion: Orochimaru, disguised as the Kazekage, isolates the Third Hokage inside a barrier raised by the Sound Four and faces him with the revived earlier Hokage. The Third dies sealing Orochimaru's arms, and Orochimaru flees with his escort. The alliance with the Sand is exposed as a deception, since Orochimaru had murdered the Fourth Kazekage. The invasion fails, but leaves Konoha grieving and weakened.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-138","pos":138},{"h":"Kabuto, the Sound Four and Kimimaro","t":"After the invasion it is confirmed that Kabuto Yakushi, the friendly genin who had helped Team 7, was Orochimaru's spy and right hand. Later, the Sound Four, Jirōbō, Kidōmaru, Tayuya and the twins Sakon and Ukon, all bearers of curse marks, persuade Sasuke to leave Konoha and seek power with Orochimaru. Shikamaru's retrieval team faces them one by one, and Kimimaro appears, the last of the Kaguya clan, gravely ill but loyal to the death; he falls mid-battle against Rock Lee and Gaara. Sasuke finally reaches Orochimaru's hideout.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-238","pos":238},{"h":"The Land of Rice Fields","t":"In an anime-only arc, Jiraiya accepts an S-rank mission and sets out with Naruto and Sakura for the Land of Rice Fields, where the Village Hidden in the Sound, and perhaps Sasuke, might be. There they meet Sasame, of the Fūma clan, who is looking for her cousin Arashi, who joined Orochimaru hoping to restore his clan's glory. The Sound's Fūma turn out to be Orochimaru's disposable pawns, and the trip serves mainly to show that Oto is not a village in the traditional sense, but a network of hideouts and followers that Orochimaru uses and discards at will.","lvl":0,"ep":"naruto-141","pos":238},{"h":"The hideouts and Orochimaru's end","t":"In Shippūden, Oto works as an archipelago of hideouts. Naruto's team, with Sai and Yamato, enters one of them and finds Sasuke turned into a fearsome ninja. Soon after, Sasuke faces Orochimaru when he tries to take over his body and defeats him. Then he recruits Suigetsu, Karin, who watched over a Sound prison, and Jūgo, locked up in the northern hideout: the curse mark that branded so many of the village's ninja came from his chakra. Without their leader, Orochimaru's prisoners and experiments are let loose, and what remains of the Sound scatters.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-352","pos":352},{"h":"Remnants of the Sound","t":"After Orochimaru's fall, Kabuto absorbs his cells and carries on his work alone. During the Fourth Great Ninja War he uses the Impure World Reincarnation to revive, among others, Kimimaro and the Sound Four as guards for his hideout, and ends up bringing Orochimaru himself back to life. The anime also adds Guren, a Sound kunoichi with Crystal Style whom Orochimaru considers as a possible vessel, and shows her on a long mission to capture the Three-Tails in which Kabuto manipulates her. In both cases the village appears as a structure loyal to a single person rather than to a country.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-593","pos":593},{"h":"The Sound in the Boruto era","t":"In the Boruto era, Otogakure no longer appears as a hostile village. Orochimaru lives under watch in one of his laboratories, occasionally works with Konoha and is still surrounded by those who stood with him, such as Suigetsu, Karin and Jūgo. From that world comes Mitsuki, a ninja created by Orochimaru who presents himself as his son and joins Konoha's Team 7 with Boruto and Sarada. The anime returns to the laboratory when Sarada and Boruto visit it, and explores Mitsuki's origin and his ambiguous relationship with the one who created him.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-39","pos":701}],"characters":["orochimaru","kabuto","dosu","zaku","kin","jirobo","kidomaru","tayuya","sakon","ukon","kimimaro","sasame","arashi","guren","jugo","karin","suigetsu","mitsuki","sasuke"],"related":["aldeas","konoha-aldea","suna","orochimaru","sello-maldito","clan-kaguya","edo-tensei","bosque-de-la-muerte","valle-del-fin"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 40–138, 165–238, 297–357 and 578–593; Naruto (anime), episodes 136–141; Boruto (anime), episodes 22 and 39","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"},{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Boruto","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
