Iruka is the Academy teacher who defends Naruto from Mizuki and gives him his headband. Kakashi takes on Team 7 and tests them with the bell test, where what is judged is teamwork. Ebisu, Konohamaru's tutor, teaches Naruto to control his chakra on water until Jiraiya takes his place and teaches him to summon toads. Lee cannot use ninjutsu or genjutsu, and Guy trains him in taijutsu, training weights and the Inner Gates. In the fight against Gaara, Guy lets him take off his weights and Lee breaks through the sand defense with a speed no one expected. Emotionally their bond is almost that of father and son, but it is not a blood tie: Lee does not inherit from Guy, he learns from him.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-86","pos":86},{"h":"Hokage and Sannin","t":"Chains of teaching run across generations. Hiruzen Sarutobi was a student of the First and Second Hokage, whom he faces when Orochimaru revives them; Tobirama trained his team and prepared him to succeed him. Hiruzen in turn trained the Sannin: Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru. Tsunade has Shizune as her assistant, the niece of Dan, the man Tsunade loved and lost in the war. Shizune learns medicine from her and stays at her side for years before Tsunade becomes the Fifth Hokage.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-169","pos":169},{"h":"Minato's team","t":"Kakashi Gaiden shows the previous generation. Minato Namikaze leads a team made up of Kakashi, Obito and Rin during the Third Great Ninja War. Kakashi learns to value his comrades above the mission, and carries what he received from that team ever after. What Minato taught Kakashi later passes, in part, to Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. Although these lines look like a family tree, they are paths of training and not biological relationships.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-244","pos":244},{"h":"Yamato, Sai and Sakura","t":"In Shippūden, Team 7 changes. Sakura trains as a medical ninja under Tsunade and inherits her colossal strength and chakra control. When Kakashi is hospitalized, Tsunade puts Yamato in charge of the team and adds Sai, a Root member sent by Danzō. Sai grew up in Root with Shin, whom he considers his older brother and who died of an illness before the program's final test.
