Zabuza Momochi, the Demon of the Mist, wears it across his back in the Land of Waves, throws it like a boomerang and stands on it when it is stuck in a tree. It is so heavy that only someone very strong can wield it for long without tiring.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-15","pos":15},{"h":"A headstone in the Land of Waves","t":"On the bridge, Zabuza fights Kakashi with the sword until the ninja hounds pin him down. Haku dies protecting him from Kakashi's lightning technique, and when Gatō shows up with his mercenaries, Zabuza no longer has the arms for the cleaver: he charges them with a kunai in his mouth and dies beside Haku. Naruto and the others bury them on the outskirts of the village and plant the Kubikiribōchō on the grave as a headstone.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-33","pos":33},{"h":"Suigetsu claims it","t":"Years later, Suigetsu Hōzuki, freed by Sasuke, asks to stop in the Land of Waves before forming the team: he wants Zabuza's sword. He pulls it from the grave and carries it from then on. For him it is a matter of lineage: his older brother, Mangetsu Hōzuki, mastered all seven swords, and Suigetsu dreams of collecting them all. The anime changes the details of that retrieval and adds a fight of its own before Suigetsu claims the weapon.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-347","pos":347},{"h":"Split in two","t":"Against Killer B, the jinchūriki briefly takes the sword from Suigetsu and then opens a deep crack in it with one of his cuts. Soon after, in Taka's fight against the Raikage, the Kage's blow lands right on that crack and splits the cleaver in two. Suigetsu keeps using the half, now shaped like a butcher's knife, because he knows the sword can recover. He loses it when the samurai of the Land of Iron capture him, and when he escapes he cannot find it anywhere.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-461","pos":461},{"h":"It regenerates with blood","t":"In the war, Kabuto returns the broken sword to Zabuza, revived with the Impure World Reincarnation. Suigetsu explains its property: it absorbs the iron in the blood of what it cuts and rebuilds itself. Zabuza kills several shinobi to repair it, and the cleaver is whole again when it wounds Kakashi, held by Haku. The regeneration is a property of this particular sword. Carrying it does not grant Zabuza's style or the other swords. After sealing Zabuza, Kakashi takes it and uses it with lightning chakra to cut better, though later he no longer carries it.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-566","pos":566},{"h":"Jūzō Biwa, the previous bearer","t":"Before Zabuza, the sword belonged to Jūzō Biwa, a swordsman famous for staining battlefields red. The anime gives him a story of his own: Jūzō deserts Kirigakure, joins the Akatsuki taking the Kubikiribōchō with him and dies fighting the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, after which the sword returns to the village. Those filler episodes also show Itachi newly arrived in the organization. The scene shows that the sword is only as good as its bearer: in the hands of Jūzō, Zabuza or Suigetsu, the cleaver is the same, but the style changes completely.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-456","pos":678},{"h":"Back in Kirigakure","t":"After the war the sword returns to Kirigakure's vault. In a Boruto anime arc, the New Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist steal all seven swords to revive the days of the “Bloody Mist”, and Hassaku Onomichi takes the Kubikiribōchō. The group falls soon after and the village recovers the weapons. In that arc the cleaver shows its regeneration again, and its passage through other hands confirms that Kirigakure never fully controls its swords.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-31","pos":701}],"characters":["zabuza","suigetsu"],"related":["espadachines","siete-espadas","hozuki","taka"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 9–33 (Zabuza) and 349–352 (Suigetsu retrieves the sword).","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
