Shinobi and samurai wield them in very different styles, and sometimes run chakra through them. Hayate Gekkō, the coughing proctor of the Chūnin Exam preliminaries, is the first serious swordsman to appear: he masters the Dance of the Crescent Moon, in which several clones attack at once with swords. He dies spying on a meeting between Baki and Kabuto, which ends with Baki cutting him down using wind as if it were a blade.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-92","ep":"naruto-54","pos":92},{"h":"Kumogakure and Killer B","t":"In Kumogakure the sword is almost a mark of identity. Killer B fights with seven swords at once, held with arms, armpits, neck and even mouth, and in his clash with Sasuke he shows he can run lightning through the blades too: he outdoes him and runs him through with several. The team the Raikage sends to Konoha reinforces that image, because Samui, Omoi and Karui carry swords, as does Atsui, Samui's brother. Each fights in their own way: Omoi overthinks every cut and Karui attacks head-on.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-451","pos":451},{"h":"The samurai of the Land of Iron","t":"The Land of Iron has no ninja village: it is defended by samurai who run chakra through their swords to cut farther and harder. Their general, Mifune, moderates the summit of the five Kage and even attacks Sasuke when he bursts into the hall. In the Fourth War he meets Hanzō again, revived by the Impure World Reincarnation, and the duel picks up the fight of their youth. His presence in the war shows that kenjutsu without ninja techniques can also hold its ground on the battlefield.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-532","pos":532},{"h":"Other swordsmen","t":"Sai carries a tantō on his back from his days in Root and uses it to block and cut without showing emotion. Sasuke swaps the kunai for a sword in Part II, and in the war the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist return with their legendary blades, each with a different effect. The profile is a reminder that the sword does not define a user or their village: style, element and experience vary from one to another. Nor does it describe real fencing techniques, only what the work shows.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-523","pos":523},{"h":"Anime scenes","t":"The anime adds several sword scenes. In the war filler, Kabuto revives Hayate to steal information from the medical camp, and Yūgao, the ANBU who was his partner, faces him with her sword; Hayate regains control for an instant and lets himself be run through before being sealed. Raidō Namiashi uses the Kokutō, a poisoned black blade. And in Boruto, Tsubaki defeats Sazanka, a rival samurai who was attacking merchants, first alone and then with her teammates' support.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-231","pos":758}],"characters":["mifune","tsubaki","omoi","karui","atsui","samui","hayate","yugao","raido","sai"],"related":["taijutsu","aldeas","konoha-aldea"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 81–82 (Hayate), 456–468 (Mifune at the Five Kage Summit) and 412–414 (the Kumogakure team).","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
