Ereki Kaminarimon runs the Kaminarimon Company, one of Konoha's big technology firms, tied to trains, machines and devices that changed the village's daily life. His son Denki enters the Ninja Academy in the same class as Boruto. In the first episode, Boruto defends him from some bullies, and the next day Denki shows up wrapped in a dark aura and sends a train out of control. All of this is anime-only material: the manga does not develop this family.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-1","pos":701},{"h":"Expectations and learning","t":"Denki carries what is expected of a company's heir. He is shy, has little physical stamina and struggles with chakra control, but he shines at programming and machines. At the Academy he shares his difficulties with Iwabee, a held-back student who bothers him at first. In episode 16, Denki cannot walk up walls and Iwabee fears being held back again; they help each other with chakra and studying, rescue some children from a fire on exam day and pass together. Their friendship grows out of that mutual help.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-16","pos":701},{"h":"The company as a target","t":"The company's economic weight makes it a target. In the anime, the Byakuya Gang, which claims to steal from the rich to share with the people, launches a large operation against the Kaminarimon Company with protesters manipulated by genjutsu. The genin mobilize, Naruto calms the crowd, and Boruto and Shikadai take on the group's leaders. The episode shows the less visible side of Konoha's modernization: the wealth companies generate also breeds resentment among those left out.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-46","pos":701},{"h":"Denki as chūnin and captain","t":"Over the years, Denki turns his technical talent into a way of fighting all his own. In the anime's Chūnin Exams he tries out one of Katasuke's tools and beats Tsubaki with a suit full of ninja tools, which earns him promotion to chūnin along with Hōki, Wasabi and Sarada. Soon after, he leads his first mission as captain and uses mechanical puppets on a mining island in the Land of Water. The technology he handles is learned and designed: it is not a kekkei genkai of the surname or something passed down by blood.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-232","pos":758}],"characters":["denki","ereki"],"related":["chakra"],"reference":"Official series and chapter guides as reading context.
