It is neither a permanent barrier nor invulnerable.","facts":[["Tipo","Defense through chakra and rotation"],["Usuarios de las fichas","Neji and Hiashi"]],"lvl":0,"sections":[{"h":"How it works","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-101","t":"The Kaiten, or Eight Trigrams Palm Rotation, consists of expelling chakra from every point of the body while the user spins in place. The result is a dome of chakra that deflects weapons, blows and techniques coming from any direction. Neji shows it in the Chūnin Exam final against Naruto, where he stops clones and kunai with seemingly no effort. The Byakugan lets him see the attack coming from almost every direction, but that is not enough on its own: it takes control over releasing chakra from the whole body, choosing the exact moment, and a trained physique to sustain the spin.","pos":101},{"h":"How Naruto beats it","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-104","t":"The defense looks perfect, but it has limits. The Rotation protects while the spin lasts and requires precise timing, so a rival can look for angles that do not go through the dome. In the exam final, Naruto launches a frontal attack to make Neji spin and, meanwhile, another Naruto bursts out from under the ground, where the rotation does not reach. Neji is knocked down by a blow he did not expect. The fight's lesson is that the Rotation handles many threats at once, but it does not replace reading the terrain or anticipating what the rival will do.","pos":104},{"h":"Neji and the main house's technique","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-105","t":"Within the Hyūga clan, the Rotation was a technique the main house passed on to its heirs. Neji belonged to the branch house, and nobody taught it to him: he developed it on his own, by watching and training. After the fight, his uncle Hiashi tells him the truth about his father's death and acknowledges the talent this shows. Hiashi is another user of the technique, and the anime also shows it in Hizashi and Hanabi. That Neji reached it without formal teaching does not mean every Byakugan bearer has it: it depends on training and on mastery of chakra.","pos":105},{"h":"Against Kidōmaru","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-197","t":"On the Sasuke retrieval mission, Neji faces Kidōmaru, of the Sound Four. The Rotation protects him from long-range attacks with arrows and webs, but Kidōmaru, from a distance and with his curse mark active, discovers the Byakugan's small blind spot and prepares a powerful arrow aimed right at it. Neji is badly wounded, though he uses the arrow's own thread to send his chakra to Kidōmaru and defeat him. The fight shows the costs: the rotation does not stop everything, and an enemy who studies the technique can find where it does not reach.","pos":197},{"h":"In the war and afterward","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-614","t":"In the second part, Neji keeps using the Rotation along with the rest of the Gentle Fist, and in the Fourth Ninja War he fights on the front line. He dies when he throws himself in the way to protect Naruto and Hinata from a Ten-Tails attack, in a situation where the rotation is no longer enough. From then on the technique is associated mainly with Hiashi and the main house's tradition. The story does not show it being passed on automatically to other Hyūga by birth: each user learns it, trains it or, like Neji, rebuilds it through their own effort.","pos":614}],"characters":["neji","hiashi"],"related":["hyuga","byakugan","juken"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 101–105 and 194–198: rotation and the defense's limits.","sources":[{"title":"Neji: Hizashi, la rama secundaria y su propia elección","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1817"}],"figures":["<figure class=\"technique-figure\" data-illustration=\"kaiten\"><div class=\"illustration-art\"><svg class=\"technique-svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 460 240\" xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/2000/svg\" role=\"img\" aria-label=\"A figure releases chakra within circular arcs that represent the defensive spin.\"><rect width=\"460\" height=\"240\" rx=\"8\" fill=\"#151520\"/><path d=\"M0 60h460M0 120h460M0 180h460M115 0v240M230 0v240M345 0v240\" stroke=\"#b99bbd\" stroke-opacity=\".05\"/><circle cx=\"230\" cy=\"120\" r=\"102\" fill=\"#b99bbd\" fill-opacity=\".025\"/><g class=\"fx-art\"><ellipse cx=\"230\" cy=\"132\" rx=\"105\" ry=\"52\" fill=\"#b1a2d51a\" stroke=\"#c3b4e5\" stroke-width=\"2\"/><ellipse cx=\"230\" cy=\"132\" rx=\"76\" ry=\"40\" fill=\"none\" stroke=\"#c3b4e5\" stroke-dasharray=\"8 7\"/><path d=\"M138 149q12-86 92-90 83 6 95 90m-182-34q88 92 176 0\" fill=\"none\" stroke=\"#c3b4e5\" stroke-width=\"3\"/><g class=\"fx-actor\"><g transform=\"translate(230 124) scale(0.9)\" stroke=\"#e1d5ef\" stroke-width=\"1.5\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\"><path d=\"m-8 19-6 20-9 12h12l12-22 6 21h12L8 20Z\" fill=\"#272b3c\"/><path d=\"m-12-10-11 8-7 20 7 4 10-17 4 8h18l4-8 9 17 7-4L20-2 10-10Z\" fill=\"#32374b\"/><path d=\"m-11-10 11 8 10-8-2 29H-8Z\" fill=\"#e1d5ef\" fill-opacity=\".3\"/><path d=\"M-8-30q7-8 16 0v13l-8 8-8-8Z\" fill=\"#ccb2a8\"/><path d=\"m-10-26-2-10 6 1 5-5 5 5 7-1 2 11-6-5-7 3-6-3Z\" fill=\"#222436\"/><path d=\"M-9-25H9\" stroke-width=\"3\"/><path d=\"m-4-20 2 0m5 0h2M-9 16H9m-25 28h7m15 0h8\" fill=\"none\" stroke-width=\"1.2\"/></g></g><path class=\"fx-arrow\" pathLength=\"1\" d=\"M303 154L285 176m8.418407963406949 -3.182830086832546L285 176l1.4527922705770617 -8.88197019914791\" fill=\"none\" stroke=\"#c3b4e5\" stroke-width=\"2\" stroke-linecap=\"round\"/><text class=\"fx-label\" x=\"230\" y=\"219\" text-anchor=\"middle\" fill=\"#d6c6df\" font-size=\"12\" font-family=\"sans-serif\" letter-spacing=\"1\">SPIN · RELEASE · DEFENCE</text></g></svg><button class=\"illustration-open\" data-enlarge=\"kaiten\" aria-label=\"Enlarge illustration of Kaiten\"><span class=\"illustration-zoom\">Enlarge ↗</span></button></div><figcaption><strong data-title=\"Kaiten\">Kaiten · Original diagram</strong><span>Spinning and releasing chakra.
