His body is made of black threads he can release to stretch his arms, catch opponents or stitch wounds, as when he reattaches the head of his partner Hidan. It is a different technique from Hidan's ritual and from the modified bodies of the Boruto era: the threads are not technology but an ancient technique.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-326","ep":"shippuden-79","pos":326},{"h":"Earth defense","t":"Kakuzu can harden his body until it is almost as hard as rock. The defense lets him block blows that would wreck another shinobi, but it has one clear weakness: the lightning nature beats earth. Kakashi takes advantage of that and runs him through with Lightning Blade. Kakuzu uses it to stop close-range blows and as a base for counterattacking with his threads. It is not a total defense: it depends on the nature of the attack, and against lightning it loses almost all its value.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-333","pos":333},{"h":"Five hearts","t":"The real secret of Earth Grudge Fear is the hearts. Kakuzu rips out the hearts of strong opponents and keeps them in his body; that way he adds years of life and other chakra natures. He carries five, four in masks of different natures such as fire, wind and lightning, plus his own. The masks can leave the body as independent monsters or merge to attack. Kakuzu even claims to have fought the First Hokage.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-336","pos":336},{"h":"Not indestructible","t":"Losing hearts weakens him. The Konoha ninja destroy several in combat, and Naruto takes out two at once with his new Rasenshuriken, a wind technique that shreds the threads from inside. Badly wounded, Kakuzu falls to Kakashi, who finishes him off. Earth Grudge Fear grants many lives, but every heart is a weak point. With no spare hearts, every clean hit brings him closer to death. Kakuzu, who had lived for decades by stealing other people's lives, falls to a team that studies his weak points.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-342","pos":342},{"h":"Reanimated","t":"In the war, Kabuto reanimates him with the Impure World Reincarnation. With his body rebuilt, he uses the threads and his multi-nature techniques against the Alliance again. The hearts he stole are still his main resource. He no longer depends on them to stay alive, because the Impure World Reincarnation regenerates his body, but he does not choose whom he fights either: Kabuto controls him. To stop him, the Alliance has to immobilize or seal him.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-533","pos":533}],"characters":["kakuzu"],"related":["chakra"],"reference":"Reading guide for the series indicated.
