Their main trait is the hydrification technique, which lets them liquefy their bodies to dodge blows, change shape or increase their muscle mass. In exchange they need to stay well hydrated at all times, which is why at least two members carry canteens. The names of all known members end in “getsu”, meaning moon. Sharing a surname and a technique does not mean they are all close relatives: specific ties are known case by case, and each member uses hydrification in their own way.","lvl":1},{"h":"Suigetsu and Zabuza's sword","t":"Suigetsu spends years locked in a water tank in one of Orochimaru's hideouts until Sasuke frees him. His goal is to gather the swords of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, and the first he goes after is Zabuza's Kubikiribōchō, which he recovers in the Land of Waves. Then he joins Taka along with Karin and Jūgo. In combat he combines the sword with hydrification: he can turn parts of his body into water to dodge, or bulk up his arm to strike harder. His mocking temperament often clashes with Karin.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-351","pos":351},{"h":"Mangetsu, the demon reborn","t":"Mangetsu, Suigetsu's older brother, was considered a prodigy in Kirigakure, called the demon reborn, because he could wield the swords of the Seven Swordsmen. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kabuto resurrects the Seven Swordsmen with the Reanimation Jutsu, and Mangetsu is among them. Suigetsu, who escapes his prison around that same time, describes each one's weapons while looking for his own. The relationship between the brothers partly explains Suigetsu's obsession with the swords.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-523","pos":523},{"h":"Gengetsu, the Second Mizukage","t":"The clan also produced at least one Mizukage: Gengetsu Hōzuki, the Second. Resurrected by Mū in the war, he fights in an eccentric, amusing style. He uses a giant clam that creates mirages with its oil and a boil clone able to inflate and explode. For the living Kage he is a tough opponent because his mirage confuses where he is. In the end, Gaara seals him with the help of a Naruto clone. His exact relationship to Suigetsu and Mangetsu is not established, only the surname and the hydrification technique.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-558","pos":558},{"h":"Suigetsu in the Boruto era","t":"In the Boruto era, Suigetsu works with Orochimaru. In the anime he runs the DNA test that seems to point to Karin as Sarada's mother, a misunderstanding the story clears up. He is also the one who looked after Mitsuki when he woke up with no memory and who later warns him about his origin. His role is no longer that of the mercenary chasing swords, but that of a lab assistant with an acid sense of humor, who still uses hydrification when needed. The clan still has no other known active members at this stage.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-39","pos":701}],"characters":["suigetsu","mangetsu","gengetsu"],"related":["chakra","kirigakure","taka"],"reference":"Official series and chapter guides as reading context.
