{"id":"hidan","name":"Hidan and his fictional ritual","japanese":"忍","category":"techniques","subtitle":"Origin, how it works and limits.","summary":"A story ability with conditions, not a ritual guide.","facts":[["Procedencia","The profile tells anime and manga apart"],["Alcance","Original summary, not a universal repertoire"]],"lvl":1,"sections":[{"h":"Hidan and Kakuzu","t":"Hidan is an Akatsuki member and a follower of Jashin, a fictional cult in the world of Naruto. He works in a pair with Kakuzu, his mission partner, not a relative: there is no Jashin clan. His first major victim is Chiriku, a monk of the Fire Temple. His style combines a three-bladed scythe tied to a cable with a ritual of his own that needs preparation. Hidan enjoys combat and drags fights out to complete his ritual.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-314","pos":314},{"h":"How the curse works","t":"First, Hidan needs the opponent's blood: he gets it with a cut from his scythe and licks it. Then he draws Jashin's symbol on the ground in his own blood and stands in the center. His body changes color and becomes linked to the victim: any wound he inflicts on himself, the other person suffers too. For him it is no big deal, because he is immortal and does not die even when run through. If he steps out of the circle, the link is broken.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-323","pos":323},{"h":"Against Team 10","t":"The ritual becomes clear against Asuma and his team. Hidan gets Asuma's blood, steps into the circle and stabs himself. Asuma falls, mortally wounded, in front of Shikamaru. That same fight proves that Hidan survives even decapitation: Kakuzu sews his head back on. The technique is slow and depends on preparation, but if it is completed it is lethal. Shikamaru witnesses all of it and starts thinking about how to beat him.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-327","pos":327},{"h":"Shikamaru's strategy","t":"Shikamaru studies the ritual and sets a trap. He separates Hidan from Kakuzu, breaks the link by pulling him out of the circle and tricks him into using Kakuzu's blood, kept in a capsule, for the ritual: the damage is turned against his own partner. It proves that the technique needs a precise link and is useless once that link breaks. For the plan he uses his shadow technique, which lets him move Hidan by force and pull him away from the symbol.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-338","pos":338},{"h":"Immortal is not invincible","t":"Shikamaru cannot kill him, so he blows him up with explosive tags and buries the pieces in a deep pit in the Nara forest. Hidan is still alive but can no longer act. That outcome shows the limits: his immortality does not protect him from being immobilized, and his ritual does not work without blood, without the circle and without room to move. It is not universal invulnerability. For Shikamaru it also closes his revenge for Asuma.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-339","pos":339}],"characters":["hidan","asuma","shikamaru"],"related":["chakra"],"reference":"Reading guide for the series indicated.
