Madara's is wide, decorated with tomoe, and has a long handle with a chain linking it to a sickle. It is carved from the wood of a spirit tree used only for ritual instruments and was handed down through generations of the Uchiha clan. It turns the chakra it receives into wind and sends the opponent's own attack back at them, a technique called Uchiha Return. Its shape recalls the Uchiha crest, but it is not an object the whole clan carries.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-562","pos":562},{"h":"Madara in the Fourth War","t":"Revived with the Impure World Reincarnation, Madara faces the five Kage with his gunbai and sickle. He uses it as a shield, as a mace and as a source of techniques: he reflects the Kage's combined attacks with it, raises gusts of wind that scatter walls of sand, and combines it with Susanoo and Wood Style. The weapon reflects attacks under the conditions of the fight, not absolutely: Madara chooses when to absorb a blow and when to dodge it. The fight ends with all five Kage defeated, in one of the most brutal displays of power in the entire work.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-589","pos":589},{"h":"In Madara's cave","t":"Obito's past shows that, during the Third Great Ninja War, the gunbai hung on a wall of the underground cave where Madara spent his final years, connected to the Demonic Statue. It is one of those details that slip by on first reading: the fan Obito will later use was in the scene from the moment he is rescued. The object works as Madara's material legacy, just like his will, which ends up in the hands of a much younger Uchiha who goes by his name.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-606","pos":606},{"h":"In Obito's hands","t":"As the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki, Obito wields the gunbai like a flail, guiding it with the chain that comes out of his sleeve. At that stage the fan has a violet tint and is so tough it blocks a mini Tailed Beast Ball from Naruto without visible damage. He combines it with the black rod and the Truth-Seeking Balls. Later, when Madara recovers his body and his place in the war, Obito returns the gunbai to its original owner.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-664","pos":664},{"h":"Trivia","t":"The gunbai really existed: it was the command fan of Japanese generals, and today sumo referees use it. Its other name, “gunbai uchiwa”, includes the word “uchiwa”, which means fan and is the source of the name and crest of the Uchiha clan, a red and white fan. In memories of the clan era, Madara's is drawn brown, with black edges and red tomoe, and the chain seems to join it directly to his sickle.","lvl":1}],"characters":["madara","obito"],"related":["indra-asura","susanoo","masacre"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 560–590 (Madara in the Fourth War) and 640–645 (Obito as jinchūriki).","sources":[{"title":"Madara: infancia, Izuna y la fundación de Konoha","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1663"},{"title":"Obito: el Equipo Minato y el sueño perdido","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1706"}],"figures":[]}
