Its techniques usually cut, push or extend attacks. Temari, from Sunagakure, uses it with a large fan that creates cutting gusts. In the Chūnin Exam she shows it against Shikamaru with the Sickle Weasel technique, which sweeps the ground from afar. Her style depends on space: the gusts need distance, and Shikamaru exploits exactly that to bring his shadow closer. It is not exclusive to any clan.","pos":108},{"h":"Temari and other users","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-214","t":"Besides Temari, other characters in the first part use wind: Orochimaru and Gaara unleash the Great Breakthrough, a gust that clears everything in its path. On the Sasuke retrieval mission, Temari arrives to help Shikamaru against Tayuya, summons Kamatari, a scythe-wielding weasel, and levels the forest with a cutting wind that crushes her rival. The fan and the summon are part of her style; they are not a requirement for Wind Release in general.","pos":214},{"h":"Naruto and his wind nature","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-343","t":"In the second part, Kakashi discovers that Naruto's nature is wind and suggests combining it with the Rasengan, something neither he nor the Fourth Hokage managed. Naruto trains with hundreds of shadow clones, which pass what they learn on to the original, and cuts leaves with chakra before moving on to the combination. The result is the Wind Release: Rasen-Shuriken, whose countless blades destroy two of Kakuzu's hearts. The cost appears right away: the technique also damages Naruto's arm, and Tsunade forbids him to use it that way.","pos":343},{"h":"Affinities and limits","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-456","t":"Yamato explains to Naruto that natures relate to each other: wind strengthens the fire it meets, but it cuts through and overcomes lightning. That is why, in the battle against Kakuzu, the wind from his masks combines with fire and makes the attacks far more dangerous. Wind Release is not superior in every situation: it depends on the opposing technique, the terrain and the chakra available. Asuma, who used blades charged with wind chakra, and Danzō, who unleashes wind techniques at the Kage Summit, show that wind adapts to very different styles.","pos":456},{"h":"The new generation","lvl":2,"t":"In the Boruto era, Temari is still a benchmark for wind, and her son Shikadai also uses wind techniques alongside the Nara shadows. He learned it the way any other shinobi trains their nature: he did not receive it automatically for being Temari's son, and wind is not a trait exclusive to the Nara. Wind Release keeps appearing in users from different villages, each with a style of their own."}],"characters":["temari","naruto"],"related":["chakra","ninjutsu","nara","rasengan","naturalezas-de-chakra"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 107–108, 212–213 and 315–321: Temari and Naruto's nature training.","sources":[{"title":"Temari y Shikamaru: rivalidad y cooperación","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1910"},{"title":"Naruto: formación y vínculos, primera parte","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1610"}],"figures":["<figure class=\"technique-figure\" data-illustration=\"futon\"><div class=\"illustration-art\"><svg class=\"technique-svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 460 240\" xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/2000/svg\" role=\"img\" aria-label=\"An open fan projects stylized wind currents into a combat space.\"><rect width=\"460\" height=\"240\" rx=\"8\" fill=\"#151520\"/><path d=\"M0 60h460M0 120h460M0 180h460M115 0v240M230 0v240M345 0v240\" stroke=\"#b99bbd\" stroke-opacity=\".05\"/><circle cx=\"230\" cy=\"120\" r=\"102\" fill=\"#b99bbd\" fill-opacity=\".025\"/><g class=\"fx-art\"><path d=\"M115 172 42 77Q118 12 194 76Z\" fill=\"#c4b5cf33\" stroke=\"#dbccdd\" stroke-width=\"2\"/><path d=\"m115 172-43-117m43 117 4-128m-4 128 49-116\" stroke=\"#dbccdd\" stroke-opacity=\".6\"/><path d=\"m115 172 0 18\" stroke=\"#dbccdd\" stroke-width=\"6\"/><g fill=\"none\" stroke=\"#a6c9bf\" stroke-width=\"3\"><path d=\"M214 79h126q57 0 32-31m-154 68h160q44 0 27-25m-172 63h111q54 0 47 27\"/></g><text class=\"fx-label\" x=\"230\" y=\"218\" text-anchor=\"middle\" fill=\"#d6c6df\" font-size=\"12\" font-family=\"sans-serif\" letter-spacing=\"1\">WIND NATURE · DISTANCE</text></g></svg><button class=\"illustration-open\" data-enlarge=\"futon\" aria-label=\"Enlarge illustration of Fūton\"><span class=\"illustration-zoom\">Enlarge ↗</span></button></div><figcaption><strong data-title=\"Fūton\">Fūton · Original diagram</strong><span>An example of wind channelled through a fan.
