The edge has a zigzag serrated border, and they are made of a special metal able to conduct chakra. Asuma debuts them for the reader when he suddenly appears to save Shikamaru, who had stayed behind alone to hold off eight Sound pursuers and was already resigned to falling. He finishes them all in seconds, and it becomes clear that Team 10's lazy jōnin is far more dangerous than he looks.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-119","ep":"naruto-70","pos":119},{"h":"First fights","t":"After the invasion of Konoha, Asuma and Kurenai follow two suspicious strangers who turn out to be Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki. Asuma charges Kisame with his blades, but he is up against a Mist swordsman armed with Samehada, a living sword that feeds on chakra. The clash leaves Asuma in trouble until Kakashi arrives to help. The scene serves to gauge the Akatsuki's level: an experienced jōnin, with a weapon made for close combat, is outmatched by an opponent who neutralizes exactly what makes him dangerous.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-141","ep":"naruto-81","pos":141},{"h":"The wind edge","t":"Asuma's trick is to run wind chakra through the blades. Wind Style sharpens and extends the cut beyond the metal, to the point that the blade can wound without touching the opponent; that technique is known as Flying Swallow. For that very reason the effect does not come with the weapon: it comes from Asuma's chakra and his affinity for wind. When Naruto gets stuck in his nature transformation training, Asuma, the only other wind user on hand, explains that this element's chakra cuts better the thinner and sharper it is molded. It is the advice that clears the way to the Rasenshuriken.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-317","pos":317},{"h":"Against Hidan and Kakuzu","t":"Asuma's most remembered fight is against the Akatsuki's immortal pair. With Shikamaru, Izumo and Kotetsu he ambushes Hidan, and when his student discovers that the curse depends on Hidan standing inside his blood symbol and manages to pull him out of it, Asuma beheads him with a single slash of his blades. But the head keeps talking, Kakuzu sews it back on and Hidan returns to the ritual. Asuma takes the final blow through the curse, says goodbye to each of his students and dies smoking, his blades still within reach.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-328","pos":328},{"h":"Shikamaru's inheritance","t":"Shikamaru keeps the blades and makes them part of his revenge: with them he catches Hidan and Kakuzu in the ambush he plans with Ino and Chōji. In the Fourth War he throws them like shuriken and runs his shadow through them to immobilize enemies from afar. The most charged moment comes when Kabuto revives Asuma with the Impure World Reincarnation: the Ino-Shika-Chō trio executes a perfect combination and drives one of his own blades into their teacher's shadow, and he thanks them before being sealed. The weapon changed hands, but the wind style did not: Shikamaru uses them his own way.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-534","pos":534},{"h":"In Mirai's hands","t":"Years later, Mirai Sarutobi, the daughter Asuma never got to meet, receives the blades from Shikamaru, as told in the postwar novels. In the Boruto anime she uses them in an escort arc in which she guards Kakashi and Guy on a trip to a hot spring, and where she comes to believe she saw her father. As before, inheriting the weapon does not mean inheriting the style: Mirai has to train her own chakra and her own way of fighting. In the anime, Naruto and Sora also practice with similar blades under Asuma's guidance, and Konohamaru carries a similar model as a jōnin.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-111","pos":711}],"characters":["asuma","shikamaru","mirai"],"related":["futon","sarutobi","ino-shika-cho"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 314–338 (Asuma and Shikamaru against Hidan); Boruto, anime (Mirai as an escort).","sources":[{"title":"Las últimas palabras de Asuma","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime/naruto2/list/01_524"},{"title":"Shikamaru: sombras, Shikaku e Ino–Shika–Chō","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/news/01_1910"}],"figures":[]}
