In the Warring States era they were a mercenary clan in the Land of Lightning. A woman of the clan married the feudal lord, and when he died shortly after, his first wife blamed the Chinoike. The Uchiha were hired to drive them out, and forced them to settle in Hell Valley, in the Land of Hot Water, a place considered uninhabitable. Yugakure ninja saw them drinking water reddened by the minerals in the soil, mistook it for blood and declared the valley off limits.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-487","pos":700},{"h":"The Ketsuryūgan","t":"The Chinoike have the Ketsuryūgan, an eye technique that turns the eyes red when activated. It allows genjutsu as powerful as the Sharingan's and the manipulation of iron-rich liquids, such as blood or Hell Valley's water, as long as they are first infused with the user's chakra. In the anime, this power is behind the “human bombs” appearing in different villages: controlled ninja who explode. The clan's name literally means “pool of blood”, very much in line with its ability.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-487","pos":700},{"h":"The fall in the valley","t":"The Chinoike survived in the valley for decades, at peace but cramped. Over time, arguments turned violent; in the anime the trigger was deciding whether to take revenge on the Uchiha. In a single night the clan destroyed itself, and only En Oyashiro and his daughter Chino remained. Guilty about what happened, he hid his identity from her and raised her to believe she was the last of her family. Later Hidan rediscovered the valley, and Yugakure confirmed no one was left and declared the clan extinct.","lvl":1,"ep":"shippuden-488","pos":700},{"h":"Chino and Sasuke","t":"Chino looks like a little girl but is older than Sasuke, and was raised and trained by En Oyashiro. With Nowaki, who called himself Fūshin in the coliseum where the rich make ninja fight and whom she considers a brother, she prepares her revenge against the villages that caused her clan's fall. Sasuke follows the trail of the human bombs to her. Chino pits the Ketsuryūgan and the valley's red water against his Sharingan, but loses: Sasuke beats her with the Sharingan and persuades her to surrender. Afterward he frees the coliseum's fighters and decides to return to Konoha.
