In the Chūnin Exams, the examiner Anko Mitarashi explains the second test there: each team receives a Heaven or Earth scroll and must obtain the other to reach the central tower with both within five days, without opening them beforehand. The candidates sign a waiver, because people can die in the forest. The test combines survival, theft and combat between teams from different villages.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-45","pos":45},{"h":"Orochimaru's ambush","t":"As soon as they enter, Team 7 exposes an impostor thanks to an agreed password, but the real danger is something else: a supposed Grass ninja who swallows one of their scrolls and paralyzes them with his killing intent. It is Orochimaru, who tests Sasuke to gauge his potential and leaves the curse mark on his neck before withdrawing. Anko, his former student, tracks him inside the forest but cannot stop him, and hears that the exam must go on, because Orochimaru has plans for the village. Sasuke is left unconscious and feverish, in Sakura's care.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-50","pos":50},{"h":"Sakura and the defenders","t":"With Naruto and Sasuke out of action, Sakura is left alone against the Sound genin, sent to kill Sasuke. Rock Lee steps in to protect her and is defeated, and Ino, Shikamaru and Chōji's team comes in to help while Neji's team watches. Sakura cuts off her hair to break free and fights for herself for the first time. Then Sasuke wakes with the curse mark active, brutally punishes Zaku and only stops when Sakura hugs him. The Sound ninja hand over their scroll and flee. It is one of the moments that define Sakura's growth in Part I.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-56","pos":56},{"h":"Gaara, the Rain and Kabuto","t":"Meanwhile, the forest shows how dangerous some candidates are. The Sand team reaches the tower in just an hour and a half, and on the way Gaara crushes Shigure's Rain team with his sand in front of Kiba, Hinata and Shino, who watch from hiding. Team 7 falls into another Rain team's genjutsu that has them walking in circles, and Kabuto, presenting himself as an ally, helps them get out. In the end they get both scrolls and reach the tower almost at the deadline.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-63","pos":63},{"h":"The central tower","t":"The forest's central tower is the test's finish line. When they open the scrolls, the candidates summon a chūnin to greet them: Team 7 gets Iruka, who explains the motto hanging in the hall, a phrase about the balance between heaven and earth, meaning the mind and body a chūnin must have. There the Third Hokage explains the political meaning of the exam as a substitute for war between villages, and announces a preliminary round to reduce the number of candidates before the final stage.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-65","pos":65},{"h":"The forest in the anime","t":"The anime returns to the Forest of Death in a few episodes of its own. In Shippūden, Naruto, Lee, Shino and Kotetsu have to capture animals that escaped from a protected area of the forest, which turn out to be surprisingly skilled fighters. In the Boruto era, the new Chūnin Exams use the place again: after the written test, the candidates must rescue ten ninja inside the forest. Boruto arrives late because he stops to save another candidate, but still makes it to the final round. None of these appearances are part of the manga.","lvl":2,"ep":"boruto-221","pos":758}],"characters":["anko","naruto","sasuke","sakura","orochimaru","rock-lee","ino","shikamaru","choji","gaara","kabuto","dosu","zaku","kin","iruka","hiruzen"],"related":["konoha-aldea","otogakure","amegakure","sello-maldito","orochimaru"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 44–65; Naruto Shippūden (anime), episode 185; Boruto (anime), episode 221","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"},{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Boruto","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
