It is tied to kunai and shuriken to guide their path, strung between trees as a trap, and used for rappelling down a wall, binding an opponent or moving weapons at a distance. It is nearly invisible in combat, which makes it ideal for ambushes. It takes preparation and an eye for the surroundings: if the opponent cuts it or breaks free, the trap loses its value. Also, fire running along a wire is the user's technique, not a property of the object. Many characters use it, from Sasuke and Tenten to Kakashi, Shikamaru and Chiyo.","lvl":0},{"h":"Sasuke against Orochimaru","t":"In the Forest of Death, Sasuke overcomes his fear and strikes back at Orochimaru. He throws shuriken tied to wires, guides them around the trees with the Sharingan and ends up lashing his opponent to a trunk. With the wire taut, he holds one end in his mouth and breathes a Fire Style blast that races along the cable and burns Orochimaru's face. The combination, known as the Manipulated Windmill Triple Blades followed by the Dragon Flame, is one of the best in Part I and shows how the Sharingan lets Sasuke calculate complex trajectories. Even so, Orochimaru breaks free: the plan was brilliant, but the opponent was on another level.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-49","ep":"naruto-30","pos":49},{"h":"Traps and bells","t":"Kin Tsuchi uses wires to hang bells from her needles and create a game of sounds that confuses Shikamaru. He figures out the trick, explains that the bells are a distraction, and uses the shadow of those very wires to run his technique to her. That kind of discreet, tricky use is the wire's most common: stringing cables with tags or bells across a path, setting alarms or guiding weapons from afar. In Part I the anime also shows users such as Shino and Temari, and wire is part of the basic kit of any ninja who sets ambushes.","lvl":0,"ch":"naruto-74","ep":"naruto-41","pos":74},{"h":"Trivia","t":"Wire is almost never the star, but it appears in many scenes if you look closely: shuriken that change direction, kunai that return to the hand, or traps that spring without anyone touching them. In the films even Naruto and Sarada use it. A detail easy to miss on first reading Sasuke's attack on Orochimaru is that he holds the wire in his teeth to keep his hands free for the Fire Style hand signs: that is why the fire comes from his mouth and runs along the cable without him having to let go.","lvl":0},{"h":"Wires in Part II","t":"In the duel against Itachi, Sasuke combines wire and weapons again: he ties cables to a Fūma shuriken to split its blades in midflight and then uses wires to move projectiles from impossible angles. Chiyo and Sasori take the principle to the extreme with their puppets, and the cables linking the Mother and Father puppets are so sharp they cut through a thousand arms at once. In the Fourth War, Kushimaru, one of the revived Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, uses the sword Nuibari, which has an extremely long thread for running several enemies through and stitching them together.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-523","pos":523}],"characters":["sasuke","tenten"],"related":["shuriken","kunai","katon","sharingan"],"reference":"Naruto, chapters 55–57 (Sasuke against Orochimaru in the Forest of Death).","sources":[{"title":"Guía oficial de anime: Naruto y Shippuden","url":"https://naruto-official.com/en/anime"}],"figures":[]}
