It appears in Part I when Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, a former member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, enter Konoha. Itachi tortures Sasuke with his genjutsu, and Jiraiya explains to Naruto that the organization is after the Nine-Tails inside him. Extracting Shukaku takes three days and is done by every member at once, projected onto a statue through their rings. Sasori dies facing Chiyo and Sakura, and Deidara barely escapes. Tobi, a loud masked ninja, takes Sasori's ring and becomes Deidara's partner. It also comes out that Orochimaru was a member and left the organization after trying to take Itachi's body.","lvl":1,"ch":"naruto-280","pos":280},{"h":"Hidan, Kakuzu and the goal","t":"Hidan and Kakuzu capture Yugito Nii, Kumogakure's jinchūriki, and attack the Fire Temple, where they kill the monk Chiriku. Jiraiya infiltrates Amegakure to investigate him and dies in battle, after discovering that the leader controls several bodies. Soon after, Itachi dies in his fight with Sasuke. Nagato, Yahiko and Konan were Amegakure orphans whom Jiraiya trained during a war. Yahiko founded the Akatsuki as a group seeking peace without violence, until Hanzō of the Salamander set a trap for them and Yahiko died. Nagato controls Pain's six bodies from afar, and one of them is Yahiko's.
